Greater Boston and the Merrimack Valley run on hotel and city rooms. The North Shore turns toward the water. The South Shore and Plymouth are golf club ballrooms and colonial villages. MetroWest keeps its old inns. Central Massachusetts and Worcester hold the mills and the concert halls. The Pioneer Valley and the Berkshires trade the coast for hill country. Shirley sits on Route 2 in north central Massachusetts. Boston is about 45 miles, Worcester 25, Lowell 20. The North Shore runs about an hour, the South Shore an hour and 15, Northampton and Plymouth an hour and 30, the mid Cape close to two hours, and the Berkshires two hours 15. For a wedding I arrive 2.5 to 3 hours before guests, so a long drive is absorbed and the room is set and checked before anyone walks in.

What do historic Massachusetts inns and barns need from a DJ?
Old rooms are small, hard, and reflective, and the power available is not always where the booth goes. I ask for the floor plan and the power situation before the date, keep the system sized to the room, and bring wireless microphones so the ceremony carries without volume.
