Your Questions, Answered
Everything you need to know about booking your wedding DJ. Don't see your question? Just ask.
How much does a wedding DJ cost in Massachusetts?
Wedding DJ packages at Elation Entertainment start at $1,699 for 5 hours. I offer four celebration packages ranging from $1,699 to $3,299, plus a-la-carte options if you prefer to customize. Packages bundle services like ceremony music, uplighting, audio guestbook, and photo booth at a discount. Every wedding is different, so I'm happy to tailor a package that fits your needs.
What's included in your DJ packages?
Every package includes a professional sound system, online planning portal, dance floor lighting, unlimited communications, a final planning consultation, and vendor coordination support. The Grand package covers your cocktail hour and reception. The Deluxe adds ceremony coverage and day-of coordination. Premium and Luxury packages include uplighting, audio guestbook, and more.
How far in advance should I book my wedding DJ?
I recommend booking 12-18 months ahead for popular dates like Saturdays in peak season. Some dates book 2+ years out. That said, I sometimes have availability for shorter timelines - check availability early to secure your date, but it never hurts to ask.
Do you handle ceremony music?
Yes! Ceremony music ($500 a-la-carte) includes professional sound for your processional, recessional, readings, and any special musical moments. It's included in the Deluxe, Premium, and Luxury packages. I'll work with you on song selections for every part of your ceremony.
Can I request specific songs?
Absolutely. Before your wedding, I do a thorough music consultation where you can share must-play songs, do-not-play songs, and general vibe preferences. I have access to a massive music library and can accommodate virtually any request. Your wedding, your music.
What's your backup plan if equipment fails?
I bring backup equipment to every event - multiple laptops, multiple speakers, multiple microphones. In 20 years of events, I've never missed an event due to equipment failure, because I plan for every scenario.
Do you travel? Is there a travel fee?
Elation serves all of Massachusetts and New England within approximately 120 miles of my base in Shirley, MA. This covers Boston, Worcester, Cape Cod, the Berkshires, southern New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and parts of Connecticut. There are no travel fees within the standard service area.
What's the difference between your packages?
The Essential package is great for couples who want professional DJ services for their reception. The Signature package (the most popular) adds intelligent dance floor lighting, cocktail hour music, and extended hours. The Premier package is the full experience - ceremony through last dance with uplighting included and day-of coordination.
Do you MC the event too?
Yes, MC services are included in every package. I handle introductions, announcements, toasts, and all the transitions throughout your reception. I work with you ahead of time to understand your preferences - whether you want a lot of audience engagement or prefer to keep things low-key.
How do you handle song requests from guests?
I read the room and use my experience to keep the energy right. Guest requests are welcome, but I always prioritize your must-play list and your vibe preferences. If a guest request fits the moment, I'll work it in. If it doesn't, I'll politely keep the party moving.
What happens if we need to reschedule?
Life happens, and I understand. I offer flexible rescheduling. If you need to change your date, I'll work with you to find a new date that works. Your deposit transfers to the new date at no additional charge, subject to availability.
Can we see you perform before booking?
I'd love to meet you! I offer free consultations where we can discuss your vision, play some music, and make sure I'm the right fit. I'm available in person, over video call, or by phone - whatever works best for you.
How is Elation different from other DJ companies?
Elation operates as a boutique, owner-operated service where clients work directly with the performing DJ. We emphasize personal connection, customized music selection, and flexible planning rather than standardized packages, with attention to preparation and live mixing.
How long have you been DJing?
20 years of experience across weddings, private celebrations, corporate events, and school functions, plus years of local bar and club residencies.
What areas does Elation service?
I'm based in Shirley, MA and generally cover anywhere within about 120 miles or 2.5-3 hours drive time. That includes all of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Rhode Island, southern Maine, and even parts of eastern New York. If your venue is further out, just ask - I'm often willing to travel for the right event.
What type of music do you have?
The library spans from 1950s classics to current chart toppers across pop, R&B, hip hop, Motown, funk, disco, rock, country, EDM, dance, and 80s/90s/2000s hits. Custom requests are always accommodated.
Can I provide playlists?
Absolutely. You'll get access to Elation's online planning portal where you can add must-plays, preferences, and do-not-play lists.
Do you help with the planning?
Planning support is core to our service, including timeline building, coordination with planners and venues, song suggestions, and formality management.
Do you provide a written agreement?
Yes. All bookings include detailed written agreements covering services, timeline, payment terms, and special requests.
What are the payment terms?
A 50% deposit with signed agreement reserves the date. Flexible payment plans are available. The remaining balance is due 30 days before the event.
Do we need to provide food for the DJ?
Offering vendors meals and non-alcoholic drinks is standard at New England events, though not required. I come prepared regardless.
Is Elation insured?
Yes. Full liability insurance is maintained, with certificates available to venues upon request.
