A harbor hotel gives you salt air, open windows, and wind that can move a ceremony indoors on short notice. An estate inside Bradley Palmer State Park gives you a tent, a lawn, and power to plan around. The function halls inland give you a finished ballroom and a fixed footprint. Getting to the North Shore from Shirley

Salem and Topsfield are about 45 miles from Shirley, roughly an hour on Route 2 and I-95, which is Route 128 out here. Gloucester is about 60 miles and close to an hour and 15. Route 128 near Peabody and the Route 1 merge are the variables, so I leave early for both. I arrive 2.5 to 3 hours before guests, which at an oceanfront room covers the load in, the ceremony system outside, and a full soundcheck inside.

How long is the drive from Shirley to Gloucester?

About 60 miles and close to an hour and 15 on Route 2 and I-95. Salem and Topsfield run about 45 miles and roughly an hour. Route 128 near Peabody and the Route 1 merge are where a Saturday adds time, so I build that into the departure.

How do you handle an oceanfront ceremony in Gloucester?
