I am John, and Elation Entertainment is my one person operation in Shirley, Massachusetts. I have DJed weddings at the Publick House in Sturbridge, MA, inside my service area, so no travel fee. Paige Hall and the garden tent are two different acoustic problems, and I set each for what it is.

Two rooms carry a wedding here and they behave nothing alike. Paige Hall and the historic barn seat 190 with the dance floor in the room, indoors, working year round including deep winter. The architecture is tavern era, wood and hard surfaces, so sound returns instead of dying and the level that feels right by the speaker is too much four tables out. The garden tent is the other half, seasonal from May through October, 220 seated with its own floor, the Red Barn Patio and Garden Terrace off it for cocktails and its own restrooms on the tent side. A tent gives you no walls to work with. Same property, opposite problems, and often the same weekend.
How I Run a Wedding at Publick House Historic Inn
Ceremony sites here are outdoors and there are several: the gazebo, the hillside arbor lined with birches, the meadow under the oak. Each is its own site with its own sound, a dedicated system with wireless microphones for your officiant and your readers, up and checked before guests walk out to it. Paige Hall is the rain plan, theatre style, and that switch is a different setup rather than the same one carried indoors, so I plan both. Cocktail hour lands on the patio or the terrace. Dinner and dancing follow in whichever space your date holds. In the barn I keep dinner under the wood and bring it up when the floor opens. Announcements run against your coordinator's timeline, not against mine.

Sturbridge is about 35 miles from Shirley, 45 minutes to an hour on Route 2, I-190 and I-290 down toward the Pike or I-84. I arrive 2.5 to 3 hours before guests. This is a property rather than a single building, so that window covers a load in through an older building's doors, the ceremony system placed outside at whichever site you picked, and the reception space set and checked while it is still empty.
