Wedding DJ in Sturbridge
Elation Entertainment is a one person wedding DJ and MC operation run by me, John, from Shirley, Massachusetts. Sturbridge is inside my standard service area and carries no travel fee. I cover ceremony sound, cocktail hour, and reception, plus uplighting, a photo booth, and an audio guestbook.
Professional Wedding Entertainment in Sturbridge and Central Massachusetts
Sturbridge sits where the Pike meets I-84, and that is part of why couples pick it. Guests can come from Boston or from Hartford without either side making a long night of the drive. The wedding rooms split two ways. There is the colonial side, low ceilings and wide pine floors and doorways built for 1771, where a dance floor lives in a room that was never designed for one. Then there is the barn side, tall and open and echoing. Same town, opposite acoustic problems, and often the same weekend.
Getting to Sturbridge from Shirley
Sturbridge is about 45 miles from Shirley, roughly 55 minutes on Route 2, I-190 and I-290 to the Pike or I-84. The interchange at Sturbridge itself is the only variable, and it is a short one. I arrive 2.5 to 3 hours before guests. At a historic inn that time goes into a load in through narrow doors and old stairs, then placing sound in rooms that were built long before anyone thought about a dance floor.
Sturbridge is part of my Worcester page, and of Massachusetts.

Wedding DJ Questions for Sturbridge Couples
Is there a travel fee for a Sturbridge wedding?
No. Sturbridge is about 45 miles from Shirley, comfortably inside the roughly 120 mile service area, so nothing is added to the package for the drive. That holds for the rest of Central Massachusetts too, out through the towns along the Pike and down toward the Connecticut line.
How does a low-ceilinged colonial room change the sound?
A small room with a low ceiling and hard floors reflects everything back at you, so the level that feels right by the speakers is punishing three tables away. I use more, smaller sources at lower volume and check the far corners, which keeps dinner conversation possible and still fills the floor later.
How early do you get to Sturbridge before the wedding?
The drive runs about 55 minutes on Route 2, I-190 and I-290, and I leave enough margin for the Pike and I-84 interchange. That puts me on site 2.5 to 3 hours before guests, which is what a multi room historic property needs for load in and soundcheck.
Can one wedding use both the inn rooms and the barn?
Yes, and Sturbridge properties are set up for exactly that. A ceremony outside, cocktail hour in a colonial room, dinner and dancing in the barn is a common shape here. Each space gets its own sound built for what it is doing, so the night moves without a scramble between rooms.
