Wedding DJ in Westerly
I am John. I run Elation Entertainment on my own out of Shirley, Massachusetts, as both the DJ and the MC. Westerly and Watch Hill sit inside my standard service area, so no travel fee applies. Ceremony sound, reception, uplighting, photo booth, and an audio guestbook, from the beach to the ballroom.
Professional Wedding Entertainment in Westerly and Watch Hill
Westerly runs on the ocean. Watch Hill sits out at the point, and the wedding season here follows the summer crowd that fills the beaches and the harbor. Couples book grand seaside hotels, an inn set back on a salt pond, and rooms that open straight onto sand. Most of these weddings are weekends, not evenings: guests come down Friday and stay through Sunday, so the reception is one night inside a three day stretch. The wind is the constant. It comes off open water in the afternoon and it decides how a ceremony sounds, how a tent behaves, and whether a cocktail hour stays outside.
Getting to Westerly from Shirley
Westerly is about 98 miles from Shirley, roughly an hour and fifty, I-495 south to I-95 south and then Route 78 into town. Summer Saturdays on I-95 through the shoreline stretch are the part I plan around, so I leave with room rather than counting on a clean run. I am at the venue 2.5 to 3 hours before your guests. At a seaside hotel that window covers a load in the house schedules, a walk of whichever lawn or deck the ceremony is on, and a soundcheck done outdoors while the wind is still readable.
Westerly is part of my Rhode Island page, and of Rhode Island.

Wedding DJ Questions for Westerly Couples
Does a Watch Hill wedding cost extra for the drive?
No. Westerly is about 98 miles from Shirley and sits inside my standard service area, so nothing is added for the distance or for the last stretch out to Watch Hill. The same holds along the rest of the shoreline, Charlestown and Misquamicut included, and it holds whether the reception is in a hotel ballroom or on the sand.
How do you decide whether the ceremony stays outside?
The venue makes the final call, but the decision needs an hour attached to it. I ask the coordinator for a cutoff time, usually a couple of hours out, and I set up both positions so either one is ready. Ocean wind matters as much as rain here. If it is pushing hard across the seats, moving in is the better sound even under clear sky.
What does salt air do to the equipment?
It corrodes anything left open to it, which is why beach setups get treated as temporary. Speakers and stands go out for the ceremony and come back in after, covers stay on between uses, and the main system lives inside where the reception is. None of that is your problem on the day. It is the reason the gear still works at the next wedding.
When do you get to a Westerly hotel on a summer Saturday?
I plan the drive at about an hour and fifty, then add for shoreline traffic on I-95, and I am on site 2.5 to 3 hours before guests. Resort hotels here schedule their load in windows tightly because more than one event can be running. I confirm mine in writing beforehand, so arriving early is useful rather than something the staff has to solve.
