How do you handle sound in a raw brick event hall?
Hard brick, concrete floors, and open ceiling volume send music back at the room, and speech suffers before music does. I set the system for coverage rather than level, keep the boxes low and aimed at the seats, and check announcements from the far corner while the room is empty. Toasts land clean, and the dance floor still gets what it needs later.
What does load in look like at an Old Port hotel?
It is a city load in. The van comes off a public street, gear goes through a service door or the lobby, and it rides an elevator that guests are also using. I confirm the access point and the timing with the venue ahead of the date, then build the arrival around it. Everything is upstairs and set well before the first guest walks through the doors.
Can you run a ceremony and a reception in the same downtown room?
Yes, and a flip is mostly a timing question. The ceremony runs on its own small system with wireless microphones for your officiant and readers. While guests are at cocktails, the room turns over and I move the ceremony gear out of the way.
