Wedding DJ at Atkinson Resort & Country Club
I am John Hathaway, and Elation Entertainment is my one person operation in Shirley, Massachusetts. I have DJed weddings at Atkinson Resort and Country Club in Atkinson, NH, about 44 miles away and inside my service area, so no travel fee. Every ballroom here has a window wall, so I keep energy off the glass.
Atkinson Resort & Country Club from the DJ Booth
Four rooms carry a wedding here and three of them are glass on at least one side. The Legacy Ballroom is the largest, with floor to ceiling windows over the landscaped grounds. The Tuscany Ballroom has a full wall of windows onto the patio and gardens. The Farview Stateroom looks out at the course and the woodlands and opens onto its own patio. Glass hands back nearly everything it receives, so the speaker aimed at a window wall is the one that turns a room against itself. I fill from the floor and angle away from the glass. The Brookside Stateroom is the different one, a grand staircase into it and a private deck off it, so guests have somewhere to go that is not the dance floor.
How I Run a Wedding at Atkinson Resort & Country Club
A ceremony here goes outside, at the Trellis on the cobblestone with the greens and the pond behind you, or at the Gazebo in the tiered gardens. Either one gets its own system and wireless microphones for your officiant and your readers. At the Gazebo the waterfalls run the whole time, a steady layer of noise under the vows, so microphone placement gets settled before anyone is seated. Cocktail hour moves out to the terrace. Then dinner in the ballroom, at a level a table can talk across, and the floor opens after it. In the Brookside Stateroom the staircase is an entrance worth using. Your coordinator holds the timeline and I run the announcements against it. With rooms on the property, some of your guests are not driving home, and the last hour reflects that.
Getting to Atkinson Resort & Country Club from Shirley
Atkinson is about 44 miles from Shirley, an hour to an hour and 10 minutes on I-495, and crossing the state line changes nothing about the package. I arrive 2.5 to 3 hours before guests. Here that window covers two setups rather than one, because the ceremony sites sit out on the grounds away from the ballrooms. Power and cable get confirmed with the venue beforehand, the ceremony system goes up and gets checked outside, then the ballroom is set and checked while it is still empty.

Wedding DJ Questions About Atkinson Resort & Country Club
Have you DJed a wedding at Atkinson Resort?
Yes. It is about 44 miles from my base in Shirley and I have worked weddings in the ballrooms there. What that buys you is that I already know each of those rooms carries a wall of windows, so placement is decided before the truck is unpacked rather than met as a problem on arrival.
How do you set up in the Legacy Ballroom?
Near the floor, spread wide, and angled off the window side. Floor to ceiling glass reflects almost everything it receives, so a pair thrown down the length of the room hands the sound straight back at the tables. I use more sources at lower level, then set it again once people are in the room.
Does the Gazebo ceremony need its own sound?
It does, and the waterfalls are the reason it needs care rather than just equipment. Moving water is constant broadband noise sitting right under your vows. The site gets a dedicated system with wireless microphones for your officiant and your readers, placed and level checked out in the gardens rather than assumed from the last outdoor ceremony.
Can you do uplighting in the Tuscany Ballroom?
Yes. Uplighting is an add on, color fixtures set around the room, and a wall of windows changes where they go. Glass does not take color the way a painted wall does, so the fixtures work the solid walls and the corners instead. You pick the shade, or I match the palette you are already working with.
