Wedding DJ on the Connecticut Shoreline

The Connecticut Shoreline sits at the outer edge of my standard service area, and there is still no travel fee. Elation Entertainment is me, John, a wedding DJ and MC working out of Shirley, Massachusetts, covering ceremony sound, reception, uplighting, photo booth, and audio guestbook from Old Saybrook to New Haven.

Professional Wedding Entertainment in the Connecticut Shoreline

The Connecticut Shoreline runs on the water and plans around it. Long Island Sound is calmer than the open ocean, so ceremony chairs here sit closer to the edge than they would on a coast with surf. Most of the rooms are resort ballrooms with a beach or a marina on the other side of the glass, and the ceremony happens a level below on the lawn. Guest lists arrive from New York and from New England into the same room, and the two halves do not share a decade of music. A night read as it goes keeps both of them dancing.

Local insight: A ceremony on the Sound brings quiet water and steady breeze, a different problem from surf. Wind takes the top off a voice long before it touches music, so your officiant and readers go on wireless microphones and the ceremony runs on its own system.

Getting to the Connecticut Shoreline from Shirley

Old Saybrook and Westbrook are about 115 to 120 miles from Shirley, two hours 15 on I-84, Route 9 and I-95, at the outer edge of the radius, and the New Haven side is similar. I-84 into Hartford and I-95 along the shore both add time on a Friday, so I leave early and treat the clean number as a floor. Arrival is still 2.5 to 3 hours before guests, which at a resort covers the lawn ceremony, the ballroom, and a soundcheck in each.

Common Questions

Wedding DJ Questions for Connecticut Shoreline Couples

Does the outer edge of your service area cost extra?

No. Old Saybrook and Westbrook run about 115 to 120 miles from Shirley, right at the edge of the standard area, and the package reads the same as it would for a wedding twenty minutes from my house. Nothing is added for the drive.

What does a lawn ceremony on the water need?

Its own system, first, so nothing depends on the ballroom's house sound. Then wireless microphones for your officiant and readers, stands weighted for the breeze off the Sound, and a level set outdoors where there is nothing to reflect off. All of it checked before guests are seated.

How long is the drive from Shirley on a Friday?

Two hours 15 to Old Saybrook or Westbrook on a clean run, using I-84, Route 9 and I-95. Friday adds to both ends of that, so I leave early rather than trim the setup. The arrival window stays 2.5 to 3 hours before your guests.

Do you cover venues inland from the shoreline towns?

Yes. The Waterview in Monroe sits inland from the shore, and Fox on the Rocks is its own drive. Send me the date and the venue and I will confirm the route and what it means for your timeline before anything gets decided.
