Getting to Hampton from Shirley

The last two miles in summer are not, and they are the ones that decide what time I actually reach the door. The arrival window is 2.5 to 3 hours ahead of guests. At an oceanfront hotel that window covers a load in off a busy street, the service route the building assigns, and a soundcheck finished before the room opens. At an inn or a pavilion it goes to the outdoor ceremony first.

Tolls and summer beach traffic are on me to plan around. They do not appear on anything you sign, and they do not change what time I am set up by.
What does ocean wind do to a ceremony at Hampton Beach?
It takes the top off a voice before the third row hears it, and it puts noise straight into an open microphone. So the speakers go close to the seats rather than out front and loud, the microphones get wind protection, and levels are set for the conditions on the day instead of the ones in the plan. Vows carry to the back without anyone shouting.
How do you work around beachfront traffic and parking in July?
By treating the arrival time as the fixed point and the departure as the variable. I confirm with the venue where the vehicle unloads and where it sits afterward, then leave Shirley early enough that Ocean Boulevard at its worst still puts me on site 2.5 to 3 hours ahead. Your guests deal with the crowd. Your timeline does not.
Can a reception under a covered pavilion still feel like an indoor room?
It can, and the lighting is most of the answer. A pavilion has a roof and open sides, so it loses its edges once the sun goes down. Uplighting gives the space walls again in whatever color you pick. On the sound side it behaves like outdoors, so the system is spread across the space rather than concentrated at one end.
